Overview
Admission and Registration Office consists of two departments: The Admissions Office and the Student Record office.
Admissions Office
The Admissions Office, headed by the admission officer, coordinates all activities pertaining to entrance examination. It reviews candidates’ document and prepares list of candidates for entrance exam. The admissions office sees to it that neat and enough copies of entrance exams are duplicated for each exam center. It is the responsibility of this office to make sure that entrance exams are carefully corrected and marked. The admissions office records entrance exam scores and reports the same to the registrar.
Record Office
The Student Record Office, headed by the record officer, is responsible for the registration of admitted students. This office prepares and updates list of students of each department and section. Grade reports, transcripts of academic records and student identity cards are prepared and issued by this office. It is the responsibility of the Student Record Office to maintain integrity of student academic records.
College Admission Requirements
Regular & Evening Programmes
- Completion of 12th grad with a GPA of at least 2.00 in E.S.L.C.E
- Recommendation by the capacity building/civil service commission of regional states or concerned federal government offices.
- Passing entrance examination
The entrance examination includes:-
- English and Mathematics for the Institute of Public Management and Development Studies and the Institute of Tax and customs Administration candidates.
- English and Law Aptitude test for the Institute of Legal Studies candidates.
- English, Mathematics and Physics for the Institute of Urban Development Studies candidates.
Advanced Standing-Evening
- Diploma in relevant field with minimum CGPA 2.00
- Two years service after earning the diploma
- Passing entrance examination in subject area.
- The entrance examination result counts of 50% and diploma CGPA counts for 50%.
- Entrance examination is administered each academic year usually in the last week of February.
Registration Procedure and Grading
Procedure
Registration takes place in the college campus be the beginning of each term. Registration program shall be announced by the office of the registrar. There is usually late registration after the regular registration period. Late registration incurs penalty.
Students should observe the following registration rules and procedures:
- Registration is in person
- A regular student must normally register for a minimum of 15 and a maximum of 19 credit hours unless one gets special dispensation.
- Evening students shall normally register for a maximum of 12 credit hours per semester.
- A student must pass the pre-requisite before he/she registers of an advance course.
- During registration, students are given three copies of registration slips to be completed and signed in consultation with a Institute/Dep’t advisor. The first copy shall be deposited in the student’s record office, the second in the Institute, and the third shall be kept by the student. Students are also given class admission slip for each course to be completed and signed in consultation with the advisor and submitted to the concerned instructor.
- All courses have course titles and course numbers.
- Registration is complete when the “REGISTERED” stamp is placed on the registration slip.
Identification Card:
- Every student will get a non-transferable identification card with a permanent registration number
- Identification card is issued free of charge for the first time and renewed each term.
- When a student withdraws or graduates the identification card must be returned to the office of the registrar.
Registration Procedure and Grading
Grade Reports
End of semester grade reports shall be prepared by the office of the registrar and delivered to students by respective faculties.
Credit hour:
A credit hour is defined as one lecture or recitation or 2-3 laboratory/ practical hours per week for 16 weeks.
Semester load:
Semester load is the total credit hour for which a student has registered for the semester.

Grade Point Average (GPA):
GPA is determined by dividing the total number of grade points earned by the total number of credit hours taken in the semester.
Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA):
CGPA is determined by dividing total number of grade points earned by total number of credit hours taken.
