Japanese Ambassador Visited ECSC
 

Japanese Ambassader to Ethiopia,Mr.Kinichi Komano,paid a short visit to Ethiopian Civil Service college on November 23, 2009.The Ambassador held discussion with Dr. Haile Michael Aberra President of the Ethiopian Civil Service College.

Dr. Haile Micheal explained the establishment history of the college. He said the civil service sector was in poor form when the present government took power. The government sent a group of expert to tour the world and to decide which experience to adopt. These Experts come up with the idea of establishing Civil Service College. Following these, the college was established in 1995, with two departments namely Economics and Low. Since then the college expanded its programs and trained 36789 trainees in Masters, Bachelor, Diploma and short term trainings in different fields of studies till to date.

 

Mr.Kinichi Komano extended his appreciation on the progress of the college. He said the government of Japan is assisting Ethiopia through Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). He added Japanese Experts are working with Ethiopian counter parts in the KAIZEN program. KAIZEN is Japanese word adopted into English referring to a philosophy or practices focusing on continuous improvement. Japan International Cooperation Agency launched KAIZEN program in Ethiopia with the cooperation of Ministry of Trade and Industry. Both Japanese and Ethiopian Experts are actively working in the program with a view to increase import substitute industries and to improve industrial productivity and quality of products and thus enabling our industries to be competitive.
